Have you ever ignored your brakes? If you do it will cost, you more in the long run. What mean is you end up doing more damage to your brake parts like rotor. At first you will hear a nose then you will hear a rub or a scrap. The metal on metal. By that time, you will need rotors and pads. Sometimes a sticky caliper can cause premature wear or sticky slide pins. The last thing to go will be the caliper seal then you need a caliper.

Different types of brake brands and parts.
You have many types of brake companies to choose from. But what sots you best? That is a question you have to ask yourself. Don't just go buy any performance brand because you think it's cool or you need it. Ask yourself what is it for? If it's just day to day driving, then you probably don't need performance pads and rotors. But if you're racing on the side or going to the track then you might need something more aggressive.
Different types of brake calipers.
In some high-end cars you have something called a four-piston caliper or some will have dual piston caliper. Basically, the pads are being pressed in from both sides, instead of just one side. Now you do have a dual piston or one piston pressing from one side as well. The reason why they do the one side is because it's cheaper than to do a two sided one. But the breaking force is not as good.

Different types of brake pad materials.
Most people are familiar with the semi mantellic and ceramic brake pads. They also have a high-performance carbon fiber. There is also an organic brake pad too. There supposed to be easier on the rotors. Each one has its drawback for example. Semi, metallic, wears your rotors slower where ceramic wears your rotors faster but gives you better stopping power. Carbon fiber is for racing and its very expensive.
